Quick Tip for Nerves

My favorite trick for dealing with nerves at an audition is to stand with your feet apart, one foot slightly ahead of the other.  Your hands hang relaxed at your side BUT to help contain the jitters, take a large paper clip in one hand.  Holding your hands behind you, focus your energy, your nerves, on opening the paper clip .  This will not distract you from remembering your lines or your lyrics but it WILL help you LOOK more composed; no one will be able to tell that you have the clip but they will be able to notice that you look and sound more professional.  Check out the “Vocal Posture” posts for more on overall stance needs.  As always, check out my website for any questions at www.SingitForward.net.  Thank you for your questions, comments and blog post suggestions!  Sing it Forward!
